Within each cherry on the coffee tree, two beans are grown side by side, resulting in the flat face of most beans. Peaberries, however, occur when only one of the two seeds is fertilized, growing on its own without anything to flatten it. Peaberries are considered by some to be superior in quality and taste from regular flat beans. The reasons for this are twofold: The single bean contains all the flavor intensity of two beans, and the round shape of the beans results in a more even roast. Peaberrys are known for their brightness and rich, almost chocolaty flavor, and high acidity. We roast this wonderful coffee to a Full City.  Like most African coffees, Tanzanian peaberry can be enjoyed hot or iced.
